Entry # 12   |    Modern   Nantucket

This beautiful Gig Harbor multi-generational home is nothing shy of a transformation piece. The goal was to create a classic Nantucket design with hints of a modern twist. This was a whole-house remodel with an addition and roof elevation. The biggest change we made to the layout was to switch the living room and kitchen. This allowed for a much larger and open entry into the home as well as a larger kitchen for entertaining. Keeping some of the original elements in the home was important to our homeowner. This was accomplished by salvaging most of the interior doors, keeping the original brick on the exterior and minimally modifying the interior layout. As many windows as possible were added on the west side to enhance the view.

This cross-hipped midcentury ranch with a walkout basement was built in 1956. While it had been well maintained over the years, the homeowners wanted to modernize the space and make it their own with an open concept floor plan on the main level of the home, while still maintaining a distinguishable separation between common living (kitchen and living room), and the family members' bedrooms. They also wanted to fully reconfigure the basement level by converting the existing "great room" and laundry area into their dream primary suite.
